As your local Flagstaff taxidermist, Skull Brothers European taxidermy believes that our quality of work is at a different standard than our competition because of two simple reasons.  1) We don’t over boil, and 2) We don’t use beetles.  Because we don’t over boil, our skulls stay strong, look more hydrated, and end up whiter.  Boiling bone for extended periods can compromise the bones integrity due to the extensive time in hot water. Skull Brothers treats each skull individually, giving your trophy our undivided attention and best work; as opposed to boiling multiple heads at once.

As far as why our method beats the beetles; you must feed beetles dried flesh.  It takes a while for even a mostly fleshed out skull to get to this dried point, and unfortunately, when you allow flesh to dry to bone, it can stain the bone. This is why some skulls may have a brown or purplish hue to them.  After the beetles do their work, this method still requires a long process of degreasing and whitening.  In the end, you are away from your trophy for a long time using the beetle route.

With our method, FRESH, recently skinned skulls result in the best end product. But, if you just have to have that cool campfire photo with your caped out buck as a silhouette, or just can’t fathom carrying any extra weight on your long pack out, we will still do everything in our power to make your skull fantastically white.  We have also had great success in cleaning deadheads (as long as they are legally acquired). Obviously, the longer they are left to dry, the worse they look, but we will still devote our very best effort to giving you a fantastic trophy for your wall.

Skull Brothers, a local Flagstaff taxidermist, was born both from a need to clean their own skulls and then from a desire to produce quality European Mount taxidermy for their friends and fellow hunters. We take great pride in our work as European taxidermist, and are excited to give you a mount that respects the animal harvested and that can be admired soon after the hunt.

Skull Brothers method of skull cleaning taxidermy gives them the unique ability to turn around finished products quickly. Even if you are planning to mount your trophy, we highly encourage our customers to allow us to clean your head, giving you something to admire on your wall while waiting for your mount to be completed.  The only fear in this suggestion is that you will love their skull taxidermy so much, you might just end up selling that cape because you can’t part with your incredible European mount!
